A group of sixty student leaders in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences were honored for receiving the Fred Foreman Scholarship for Growth in Leadership Participation. The Foreman Scholarship is awarded to top students who serve the college through leadership roles as peer mentors, club officers and competitive teams with a preference for students in activities that assist in recruiting prospective students.

Iowa State University students get perspective traveling the world during spring semester
Over the course of spring semester, Iowa State University students in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences took their learning outside the classroom and into a totally hands-on environment. The students traveled to places like Argentina, Brazil and Costa Rica over Spring Break, and to St. John for the semester, to learn more about chosen areas of study.

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and the Iowa Department of Transportation selected students of the Iowa State University Associated General Contractors (AGC) Chapter to receive the Group Governor's Volunteer Award. They will be honored at a recognition ceremony June 8 at Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

Area Students Pariticipate in Buena Vista University Spring Break Service Trip
Ten Buena Vista University (BVU) students participated in an AWOL (Alternative Week of Off-site Learning) trip during spring break, enabling them to volunteer their time and service with a focus on disaster relief and clean-up efforts in Greeley, Colo.
Participants in the Disaster Relief trip experienced the after-effects of a weather-related disaster and gained an understanding of the long process of recovery and rebuilding when they traveled to Greeley, Colo., and assisted with cleanup efforts from last year's catastrophic flooding. Students completed a variety of cleanup tasks, worked with a local Habitat for Humanity chapter, cleared debris from a fish farm, volunteered at a food bank and helped restore a historic horse barn.
